Interview with Bittercyclist.com

“I have not felt that innocent, child-like bliss until I saw Cyclecide earlier this year. They transport people into somewhere between Santa Claus’ Village and a cyclists’ acid trip. I recently interviewed the founder of Cyclecide, Jarico Reese, and asked him about the basics of his ensemble.”
Jarico- “Originally, we named ourselves Heavy Pedal Cyclecide. still today I guess, what we do is drink alot of beer, build altered bikes, and pedal powered carnival rides. The second thing we do is perform a show called the bike rodeo. In the rodeo, we have a band called Los Banos, punk rock mariachi sounds to accompany our parody of a bike show.” More of this interview at: bittercyclist

Portland Adventure Thwarted

Cyclecide attempted to caravan up to Portland for New Year’s Eve for the Chunk DCLXVI ring-in-the-new-year bash. However, flooding on I-5 stopped the vechicles. Rudy and Penny wanted to fly in an stir shit up in the name of all the others turned away by the Oregon border patrol, but they too were stopped — by a fever of 102!

SEEKING INFORMATION ABOUT A HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT WITH A CYCLIST ON FRIDAY NIGHT @ 1AM

The police, friends and family are seeking any information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a traffic collision that occurred at 12:33am late on Friday night/early Saturday morning (December 17) at the corner of Florida St. and 20th St. in the Mission. Our dear friend and honorable contributor to the SF community, Spider Davila (aka J. Comford), was riding his bicycle and was violently struck by a motorist believed to be driving an SUV. The motorist fled the scene. Police have a description of the SUV, which is likely to have front-end damage. The driver, or passenger(s), have yet to be identified. Police, family and friends are looking for any witnesses to this violent hit-and-run accident, or if someone saw this vehicle in the neighborhood around this time, if they have any information about the suspect(s), or if they were a passenger in the vehicle, we are asking them to please come forward.

Any information about the accident should be passed on the the SF Police. The Case # is 051413864. You can call Inspector Krimsky at the Hit and Run Detail at 415-553-9179. We desperately need any information—please help us help our dear friend. If you have any information about this accident, you can also email helpspider@marciag.com. For those who wants updates on Spider’s condition, want to make a donation, or offer their help, please read and post on www.cyclecide.com in the section marked guestbook under the heading “Extra” and someone will get back to you.
Spider is currently in San Francisco General Hospital in ICU, with numerous fractures in his face and a shattered jaw, a broken arm, and is currently intubated for respiratory support (breathing through a tube on a respirator). He is a beloved friend to many and a tremendous volunteer in the SF Community—he has made a massive impact with all of his volunteering for numerous organizations, fundraisers and events in the city: some examples include the YMCA, working with kids at the Crucible; volunteering extensively at The Bike Kitchen and Cyclecide; riding in the AIDS/LifeCycle; and was on the Gate/Perimeter crew at Burning Man. He is known and adored for his dear heart, kindness, warm laugh, and boundless generosity. His family and the community are hoping someone will come forward to honor the humanity of this extraordinary man.

Now Playing

Derek and Ian of ‘Now Playing’ were at Hell on Wheels and can attach just about anything to your head. Derek had a CD in his head (using the latex) while Ian had a beer can (using the wax method — they disagreed on what method was the best).

OCTOBER 2005, SAN FRANCISCO —

Calling all bicycle enthusiasts and the Undead… First Rule and Cyclecide present HELL ON WHEELS, the only Zombie Halloween carnival in the City dedicated to the almighty bike!

Starting at 10am on Oct. 30, Bay Area BMX, street, and flatland riders are invited to participate in an all-day ramp jam, complete with an MC, contests, and prizes. Yes, this is no pro affair at all: First Rule, the new BMX company started by S.F. flatlander (and Cyclecide rodeo klown) Koit and BMXer Kweli (no last names), spent the past 2 months scavenging wood and pallets in the ghetto to bring SF cyclists of all stripes the opportunity to participate in a good old-fashioned homemade-ramp hootenanny… Dressed as zombies. (Zombie makeup artists will be on hand to infect people, but folks are encouraged to rip up their clothing and roll around in the dirt before they attend.)
