Reading
Frenzy

Back to the #2

Reading Frenzy is rad! Especially coming from a place like new yawrk where every one acts so in the know about zines and subculture but don't know where to buy the stuff - or - even worse - don't really _want_ to buy the stuff - just tawlk about it.
It is fuller of zines than I have ever seen a place. All tidily arranged in nice, not-too-tightly packed, but still - ample choice, shelves. I ended up charging $35 worth of stuff just cuz I knew I wouln't see so many quality goods in one place. When I brought my stack up to the cash-desk, Chloe, cool owner of RF, looked my choices over and recommended another "Flatter" based on what I had already chosen. Real-live and friendly database of hipness.
Also, it had issues of Naughty Bits that haven't even made it out to grubby old NY where I have to either go to Bleeker Comics (everything cool is buried under Star Dreck shit) or St. Mark's Comics (like 1/2 year behind in getting stuff) or SEE HEAR (dark, dank, and erratically stocked). (Speaking of dank, RF is totally NOT - v. sunny and has big ye olde shop windows that Sean [who does CRAPHOUND] is going to paint something wiiiild on).
RF made me think I could live in Portland some day - a city that takes the "f" out of NY's "fart".
