Two 802.11b base stations or cards with external antenna adaptars (eg Lucent's WaveLan Silver cards) to plug into the antennas. I own one base station, and we will need to buy another one... about $200.
Procedure:
- hookup the two base stations and have them communicate within a room.
- Make an antenna and have it talk to a base station
- Make another antenna and have them talk to each other over a couple of blocks
Have a laptop on the far end and a user with a cell phone to coordinate with the end in the lab.
- Repeat the dual antenna experiment over the Bay

Endpoint A will be either the Leper Colony Warehouse, or the eXchange on 200 Paul Ave. Endpoint B will be in downtown Oakland.
Background:
802.11b is a standard wireless protocol which uses the 2.4 GHz spectrum. You do not need a license to operate an 802.11b network.
